Why you should consider exiting the repayment moratorium?
The moratorium on loan repayment actually helps you only in the event of difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, rendering you unable to repay your loan. If your financial situation makes it possible you should consider exiting the moratorium and resuming repayment as soon as possible.
Do you want to exit the moratorium?
Let us know if you prefer to exit the moratorium and continue loan repayment.
Initiating exit for retail customersIf you are still utilising the moratorium, please consider the following.
The longer you remain under moratorium, the more you will have to repay.
We continue to charge transaction interest on the principal sum during the moratorium period as well in accordance with the contract. Due to the unpaid interests your total debt will increase.
Tenor to become longer
The amount of the payable instalment cannot increase as a result of using the moratorium therefore repayment will be rescheduled by extending the tenor of loan. Please note that the extension of tenor may exceed the duration of the utilised moratorium period by several months.
Instalments could increase for loans with interest subsidy
The government interest subsidy for housing loans may end before the expiry of the extended tenor during which the amount of the payable instalment could increase.
No retroactive payment of guarantee fee for Prenatal Baby Support Loan
The Hungarian Government cancelled guarantee fees for the moratorium period ensuring non-payment even if you decide to exit the moratorium.
How to translate it into figures?
According to the relevant MNB press releaseand Financial Stability Report published in June 2021:
- For a housing loan with a principal debt of HUF 15 million, a remaining tenor of 20 years and 5% interest rate calculating a period of 27 months under moratorium the tenor would be extended by a total of 56 months, provided the debtor utilised the moratorium on loan repayment from the time of announcement until the end of June 2022. Due to accumulated interests the total debt would increaseby approximately HUF 3 million.
- For a personal loan of HUF 1.5 million with a remaining tenor of 7 years and 15% interest rate the tenor would be extended by a total of 58 months, provided the debtor utilised the moratorium for the whole duration. In that case the total debt would increase by HUF 927,000.
